The Corner House

Floor Area : 260sqft  |  Location : Canterbury

Overlooking the city walls of Canterbury, The Corner House Restaurant were adding a new dining room to the their existing building and appointed Lifeforms Design to create a design to compliment the existing space.

A beautiful new building in the hidden garden linked to the existing listed building, the interior needed to be traditional but one that contrasted with the existing and worked with the architecture of the new building.

A small room but cleaver detailing allowed the space to feel larger.  With large bi-folding doors and lots of natural light, the idea to bring the terrace flooring part way into the room helped create the impression of more space. Likewise the large traditional mirror (a common trick) along with the contrasting colours and materials of the timber wall cladding and T&G to underside of the pitched roof also helped. Classic furniture and a large banquet seat help top off the stunning design.
